1877 Shield Nickel. Proof 63. The key date to the Shield Nickel series, this proof-only issue is in constant high demand from date collectors. This particular coin has nice contrast between the mirror fields and the frosty devices. On the reverse we note some token hairlines, but they are not heavy or distracting.
