Lot 943

1866 Indian Head Cent. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. The very challenging "Reconstruction Era" set 1866-1877 contains most of the scarcer dates of the Indian Cent series. Mintages declined due to the economy rebounding after the war (in the North at least). Nickel cents returned to circulation and new five cent and three cent nickel coinages lessened demand for cents. Pop 50; 1 finer in 66.

This coin is fully struck and exhibits much red color. The dies are fresh and crisp with chisel sharp details. It is difficult to find any marks of note. This is a wonderful example of this tough date (PCGS # 2086) .
Estimated Value $900 - 1,000.
Ex:The "Chiro" Collection. Eagle Eye Photo Seal accompanies this lot.

Realized $1,438
