1785 Nova Constellatio. Pointed rays. . Crosby 3-B Rarity-1. MS-63. Choice lustrous medium steel brown with faded mint red showing in many of the protected areas. Absolutely flawless surfaces. The details are sharply struck on both sides. The obverse is slightly misaligned to the lower left while the reverse is perfectly centered. It is difficult to imagine a more perfect example. I won’t waste time with glowing adjectives, just treat yourself to an in-person inspection of this piece. Finest known of the variety, and we know of no better Nova Constellatio regardless of the date or variety. Plated in the "Redbook" through 2005 to illustrate the 1785 with pointed rays type. Weight 114.4 grains.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 4,000.
Ex: Louis Eliasberg, Bowers & Merena 5/20/96:53-Marc McDonald.
