Lot 78

1785 Nova Constellatio. Pointed rays. . Crosby 2-A Rarity-5. EF-40. Choice glossy medium brown and chocolate. Flawless, mark-free surfaces and great eye appeal. Two tiny swipes of slightly lighter toning at LI in LIBERTAS can help identify this choice early copper. The center of the obverse is bulged outward causing weakness in the center of the reverse, but this one is struck better than most of the variety. The remainder of the strike is strong. Weight 122.2 grains. A very nice example of this rare variety, certainly one of the finest ever offered at auction.
Estimated Value $400 - 800.
