Lot 549

1827 Coronet Head Cent. . N-1, R2. VG-8 Double Struck Off Center. Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. Smooth surfaces with only minor marks, mostly rim nicks and bruises. The notable ones are under star 1, right of star 9, and over the A in STATES. Double struck. The initial strike was properly centered on the planchet and the second was 85% off center to K-7. The second obverse strike was against a blank planchet (or at least not against the obverse die), but the reverse has a strong off center impressioon of the wreath. Nearly qualifies as a "tab double strike." Removed from an ANACS slab graded VG8 (ANACS label inluded).
Estimated Value $400 - 800.

Realized $834
