Lot 3130

New York. Jan. 6, 1776 4 shillings. PCGS graded Apparent About New 50, Edge Tear at Top Right. . Fr-NY-183. This is a truly scarce issue in any grade, with only 2,500 notes of this denomination printed. Conventional wisdom about the PCGS "red label" holder has begun to come around to the original intention of PCGS Currency in designating problem notes with a distinctive holder: instead of being ignored, it has become apparent that there are many very collectible and desirable notes that have varying degrees of problems. Instead of making them "unsaleable" to collectors, the accurate description of problems have made buyers better informed to make an accurate decision as to their value.
Estimated Value $125 - 175.

Realized $192
