Lot 3126

New York. Sept. 2, 1775 $2. PCGS graded Apparent Very Fine 25, Edge Split at Top Center. . Fr-NY-178. Like many Colonial notes, this piece has a small problem that merited a PCGS "red label" holder. Like most of those notes, it retains much appeal to collectors, especially considering the large majority of Colonials available that have more severe and numerous problems. This piece bears the vignette of a pair of storks, with the Latin motto "SALUTARIS SIBI PARENTIBUSQUE" that is translated by Newman as "Fortunate for itself and its parents."
Estimated Value $200 - 250.
