Lot 2703

1914 $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded MS-65. Light orange toning with very clean fields other than for a few light diagonal marks on the left leg. Scarce date in MS65 or better. A leading condition rarity within the P-mint Indian Eagles group, 1914 is difficult to locate in the upper Mint State grades, more difficult than the 1910, 1912, 1913, and 1915, and never, ever found in profusion. This is a fresh, glowing Gem with sleek orange-gold patina. The luster is well above average for the type, hence the grade, although in keeping with our quest for accuracy, we do come across some light contact marks here and there. Razor sharp striking definition makes all design elements stand out smartly, like a row of soldiers at attention. Pop 24; 1 finer in 66. (PCGS # 9164) .
Estimated Value $18,000 - 20,000.

Realized $16,100
