1795 Liberty Cap Cent. Plain edge. . S-76b, R1. PCGS graded AU-53. Very attractive glossy medium brown and chocolate with frosty luster covering the protected areas on both sides. EDS, Breen state III (which is the earliest state for the plain edge version). Struck very slightly off center to the right, but dentils are clearly visible all the way around both sides. EAC grade EF45 and choice. The Hesselgesser provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 9 .
Estimated Value $2,000 - 4,000.
Ex Dr. Hesselgesser.
