1877-S $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. Untoned. Typical bagmarks on the face and in the lower field near the date. Impressively struck on the obverse, all the same, the resounding gold tone resonates to the eye. Strong details abound on the reverse, as well, creating a lustrous example with a combination of satin gold and frosty texture for the collector to admire. The 1877 double eagle commences the Type 3 series with the improved profile of Liberty and TWENTY DOLLARS finally spelled in its entirety (it was formerly expressed TWENTY D.). Pop 225.
