1858-D $5 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. A boldly struck example loaded with golden-orange mint luster. Creamy gold surfaces eddy and churn with almost "frothy" luster, the orange-gold color highly pleasing to the appreciative eye of the collector. Nicely struck with just outstanding detail at the hair, LIBERTY, coronet, and hair bun, plus similar sharpness on the eagle's neck feathers, the shield and wings. There is a small mint-caused depression on the rim above E of UNITED, like a small flake in the metal alloy. Consistent quality and beauty throughout. Pop 3; 6 finer; 4 in 62; 1 in 63; 1 in 64.
