Norse Medal Thick. PCGS graded MS-64. Well toned and lustrous. An engaging example of this medal. A medal, not a coin, this and related pieces in silver and gold were issued in connection with the Norse American Centennial in 1925. The promoters wanted a coin, but did not lobby their case with congress, not realizing that coins could be easily sold throughout the numismatic market, but medals would be less popular. Accordingly, a fair number or Norse commemoratives remained unsold for years afterward. Year by year they became more popular (PCGS # 9450) .
