Lot 131

1793 Flowing Hair Half Cent. . C-2, R3. PCGS graded AU-53. Glossy light to medium steel brown with olive brown toning in the protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and very attractive, free of any hint of corrosion or verdigris. Sharply struck very slightly off center to K-4. A tiny diagonal nick in the field midway between the chin and lower end of the pole is the best identifying mark, and it is barely visible. A very attractive example of our first federal half cent. Intermediate die state with the reverse rotated 35 degrees CW. EAC grade EF40+, close to EF45. The Garrett/Hesselgesser provenance is noted on the PCGS grading label. Pop 8, 46 finer.
