1783 Washington & Independence Cent Draped Bust without Button Taylor Restrike in Copper with Plain Edge. . Br-1192. PCGS graded Proof 65 Brown. Choice medium brown and reddish chocolate. The only mark is a tiny spot of olive brown toning in the field before the eyebrow. The strike is needle-sharp and the eye appeal of this example is outstanding. The Taylor restrikes were made by W. J. Taylor of London circa 1860, and most of those have a center-grained edge. The plain edge examples, such as this one, are very rare. The base of the 7 in the date is not repunched. PCGS population 5 with 6 finer.
Estimated Value $400 - 800.
