Monumental Carved Figure of the Immortal, Shou Xin. China, 20th century. An adept, craftsmanly portrayal of "Shou Xin," who is both an immortal and a powerful symbol of long life. The aged and bearded savant carries a knobby staff with water gourd, and a large peach, again a symbol of long life. Also included, are two more nicely crafted wood pieces: a brush pot, with dainty riverine scene; an incense or candle stand formed by an upward coiling dragon. Shou Xin height: 34-1/2". Lot of 3 items.
