Handel Leaf and Berry Cylinder Desk Or Piano Lamp. The 9¾" curved cylinder shade has green glass with a leaf and berry metal overlay. The arm on the circular foot is adjustable. Signed with a cloth label on the felt of the base. The base and shade are original patina. The lamp has been rewired; with the original socket and acorn pull. Weight is approximtely 12 pounds.

Philip Handel was best known for the art glass lamps that he produced in Meriden, Connecticut at the turn of the century. In Robert DeFalco's book Metal Overlays by Handel, he states, "Handel conceived and produced lamps with the idea that the fixture itself was sculpture and its luminescence fine art. In the true Arts and Crafts spirit, Handel captured the essence of handcrafted quality and realized the vision of the artist in every lamp."
