Kevin Costner Screen-Used Sword From "Dances With Wolves". Prop U.S. Cavalry sword used by actor Kevin Costner in his role as Lt. John Dunbar on the set of the 1990 movie "Dances With Wolves," which Costner also produced and directed and for which he won the Oscar for Best Director. The 39½" long sword and sheath are cut steel (unsharpened blade), with brass knuckle guard and leather, wire-wrapped handle. The sword was acquired from the set and sold by Ellis Prop Company. With COA from Hollywood Prop Supply. The very popular Civil War-era western was unusual in the respect with which it treated Native Americans.
