The group includes a variety of portraits, all on 9¾x7¼ cardstock, all with the address "57 & 61 Ebury Street, London" at lower right and the company's name at lower left. Subjects include the Czarevitch, the Danish Royal Family with the Princess of Wales, The King of Saxony, the Crown Prince of Siam, Prince Henry of Battenberg, The Maharajah of Kuch Behar, Sir Algernon Borthwick, Sir Charles Russell, and a wide variety of others--clergy, officers, regular people, etc. Overall fine; some toning in margins. W. (William) and D. (Daniel) Downey was one of the leading firms of portrait photographers in London during the second half of the nineteenth century.
