Police Chief Badge, c. 1922-26. 14 karat gold and blue enamel badge used by Kansas City, Mo. Police Chief Chester Arthur Vassar. The badge is 3" x 2", with laurel leaves on each side and a federal eagle with an amber-colored eye on top; inset in back is probably brass. Gold lettering on the blue enamel says "Chief of Police Kansas City Mo." At the center are two grizzly bears supporting a tri-part circular shield with the motto "United We Stand, Divided We Fall"; the right section of the shield represents the United States; on the left side, a moon represents a new state and a grizzly bear represents courage. Very fine condition. Total weight is 1.27 oz.
