(Hawaii) Sanford B. Dole (1844-1926) Elected president of the Provisional Government after the monarchy was overturned in 1893; appointed first governor of the Territory of Hawaii. Partly printed Document Signed as Governor, 4 pp, 16x10½", Kona, 24 Mar. 1902. Countersigned by Edward Boyd as Commissioner of Public Lands. Fine. Land Patent No. 4588 granting approximately 1,000 acres to William C. Achi for land at Honomalino, South Kona, Island of Hawaii. There are references to adjoining properties of J.M. Monsarrat, J. Kuahau, the Old Government Road and the Shoreline. Page 1 has a cancelled $1.00 Hawaiian government duty stamp.Pages 2 and 3 have a partially colored 2 page map. Signature page bears the Great Seal of the Territory. William Achi was a lawyer and great, great grandson of Puou, one of the warriors of Kamehameha I. J.J. Monsarrat was a lawyer who drew up the wills of Queen Dowager Emma and of Princess Miriam Likelike.
