Wind Tunnel Test Model of Nike Type Missile, c. 1960. Aluminum body, 28¾" long and 8½" in diameter, with four sets of fins. Resting on a wooded base; 10¼" from the top of the fin to the bottom of the base. The test model weighs 8¾ lbs (13½ lbs. with base). Scientists use test models in wind tunnels to obtain information on how the actual missile (or whatever they are testing) will respond.
