Foster, Lafayette & Others. Check Signed ("L F S Foster"), Norwich, 29 Apr. 1868. Fine; with cancelled revenue stamp. Foster was elected President pro tempore of the Senate in 1865; when Andrew Johnson became President upon Lincoln's assassination, Foster became President of the Senate and de facto Vice President of the US until March 1867. Charles E. Hughes Typed Letter Signed as Governor of New York, Albany, 4 Dec. 1908. About speaking in Rochester for Lincoln Day. Very good. With a 3x5" card Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox, and a signed and inscribed title page by White House correspondent Helen Thomas, 4 June 1999.
