Austin, Stephen F (1793-1836) Texas colonizer; secretary of state of the Republic of Texas (1836); considered by many the Father of Texas. Document Signed "S.F. Austin," 1 p, 10¼x8¼", New Orleans, 11 Jan. 1836. Fine; small paper loss in text from cancellation, not affecting signature. Being Texian Loan No. 311 issued to Robert Triplett in lieu of his "Thirty-Two Dollars" on a "Loan of Three Hundred and Twenty Dollars, made by him this day to the Government of Texas for Five Years, bearing interest…." Signed by Austin as Texas Commissioner. Countersigned by fellow Commissioners B[ranch] T. Archer and W[illiam] H. Wharton.
