Lot 1139

Handsome Larger Carvings in Hardstone and Glass. China, 20th century. First, a truly elegant open work sculpture in carnelian/agate of a long-tailed bird (Pheonix?) perched on a flowering bush - - skillful use of the stone's colored bandings defines the elements of the composition. Also, an amusing archaistic resting cat, in brown and olive nephrite; and a pleasing seated plump Buddha. Plus two fine examples of Peking glass: a pair of matched white vases with carved floral scene in green. Four of the items have custom bases. Height of bird item: 6-3/8". Lot of 5 items.
Estimated Value $550 - 650.
Irving Goodman, Personal Collection.
