Lot 4785

1869, $100 United States Note. . Fr-168. . KL-787. CGA Fine 15. This extremely rare $100 U.S. Note has minimal wear for the grade, no soiling or restoration, and it gives the appearance of a nicely margined, intact Fine or perhaps even a Very Fine. This is one of fewer than 30 examples known of this one-number type, and turns out to be the highest denomination of the Rainbow series that the everyday collector can afford. Perhaps half-a-dozen are in museum collections, leaving only a few for the collecting public to compete over. The fact that this note is all original and the unhampered quality with will likely give collectors the energy to bid, since the opportunity of owning a wholly pleasing Rainbow $100 is a novelty in paper money collecting.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000.
