Lot 4777

1901, $10 United States Note. . Fr-122. . KL-388. CGA Gem Uncirculated 65. Rare Star note. This auction marks the rare appearance of a gorgeous Gem F-122 $10 Bison Star note at public sale, one of the few offerings in the last dozen years, and especially noteworthy in this outstanding condition. The F-122 star is ensconced only in the strongest of collections, and unlikely to be available to collectors for many years to come after its sale. That makes this a key opportunity for any collector to achieve completion of a star note set by type. With the market for true numismatic rarities reaching record levels at every offering it stands to reason this lovely Gem Uncirculated 65 note will command a lot of attention. Its colors are bright. Red for the seal, serial numbers and X-TEN embossing. Black for the front design, deep, with nice contrast against the almost white field of paper. On the back, deep green color, with the two bands of red-and-blue silk fibers plainly visible as indicators of the government's anti-counterfeiting device. A note whose sale will be remembered and discussed for years to come!
Estimated Value $30,000 - 33,000.
