Lot 4755

1869, $2 United States Note. . Fr-42. . KL-102. PCGS Choice New 63. A lovely Rainbow Deuce with deep blue paper "stain" as made (an anti-counterfeiting device, one of many on this intriguing design of 1869). Green overlay with red seal and serial numbers, completes the Rainbow effect on the front. The back is in standard Legal Tender green, a color that has become, in the 21st century, the standard by which foreigners identify American currency. Very few foreigners have ever seen one of these early large-size notes, however; and indeed, few Americans are aware that these were in print and circulated more than a century and a third ago!
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,500.

Realized $7,763
