1880, $1 United States Note. . Fr-31. . KL-18. PMG Choice Extremely Fine. A genuinely pleasing and attractive early $1 Legal Tender note with much residual crispness in the paper. The design for F-31 has a large spiked red seal offsetting the deep blue serial numbers. George Washington occupies the central position, while Columbus Sighting Land is the small vignette at the left. The standard Legal Tender "second obligation" is written out in small letters in the opening at the right on the back. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in the form of a large X makes this a distinctive back design.
