Netherlands - Utrecht. Gold Ducat, 1650. Fr-284. Armoured figure holding sword upright. Reverse: Square plaque with inscription. NGC graded AU-58.

**In 1644 and up to 1654, 200 soldiers and refugees from the failed Brazil colonies arrived in New Amsterdam (New York). Up to 1659 small groups of boys and girls from Dutch poor houses and asylums were transported to New Netherlands. They were under contract to work for a while, and then released into the community.
