Byzantine Empire. Andronicus II Palaeologus, 1282-1328 AD., with Michael IX. Lot of Two Base Gold Hyperpyrons, Constantinople, struck 1294-1303 AD. Facing nimbate bust of Mary Orans, within city walls of six towers. Reverse: Christ blessing Andronicus and Michael, all facing. SBC 2396. Weights: 3.37 g.; and one, unusually heavy at 3.98 g. Coins basically as struck, with lustrous fields; one with typical flan splits. Lot of 2 coins. Coins average Choice Very Fine for issue.
