Lot 3208

1894 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded EF-45. Well struck and untoned. Having gone along like a young colt bouncing around and producing millions of silver dollars each year from 1878, the Philadelphia Mint came to a screeching halt in 1894 and 1895 when the supply of silver ran (pursuant to the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890). The 1894 has long been a favorite coin with auction houses and coin dealers hoping to keep a few nice specimens in stock. For these tend to fly out the door almost as fast as they are acquired. The present example is a case in point: we expect numerous bids and a swift disappearance into an appreciative collector's set of Morgan dollars (PCGS # 7228) .
Estimated Value $1,800 - 1,900.
