Lot 2434

1924-D $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded MS-64. Frosty and lightly toned. The current offering is a sharply struck MS64 with beautiful toning and lustrous, matte-like surfaces that have a layer of sparkling mint frost covering all areas. The carefully preserved surfaces show a few of the scattered trivial nicks common to a coin at this grade level, but nothing notable All in all, on the basis of visual impact and technical plusses combined, this piece seems entirely worthy of its strong rating, which makes it one of the top dozen rarities in the twenty-dollar gold series of its highly respected design. Pop 89; 9 finer; 7 in 65; 1 in 66.
Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000.
The Greenhill Collection.

Realized $10,580
