Lot 2105

1905 $5 Liberty. NGC graded MS-68. A superb gem! Well struck with immaculate surfaces throughout. Delicate mint bloom color. From tip to toe an untoned miracle of coin preservation that has not just impressive mint brilliance over spotless surfaces, but imponderable beauty and perfection. A diminished state of surface is again the usual outlook for a coin of this year with bagmarks the rule, but in contrast, this piece was left in its exact "Mint" condition as though having left the dies mere moments ago; as well, all designs detailed by the recoil of the sharp dies; a fortunate occurrence. 302,200 coins minted. Pop: 1/0. Finest known.

(For the record, these PCGS & NGC have holdered 45 examples in MS65, 15 in MS66, and just three examples in MS67. For the entire With Motto design type, NGC has certified 12 examples in MS68 and just two finer MS69 examples.).
Estimated Value $24,000 - 26,000.
The Greenhill Collection.

Realized $27,025
