1901 $5 Liberty. NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo Star. Fabulous! A glettering bright superb gem. The surfaces are radiant and each side has a nice veneer of "orange peel" patina in the highly reflective field that whips and tosses as it alternates between lighter and darker angles of reflection. Often, a Proof gold coin was cleaned or allowed to acquire haze on the surface. This piece, on the other hand, is clearly three or four points above average, the coin leaves a very convincing impression behind on the eye of the connoisseur. Only 140 proofs minted. Finest known.
