1939. Lincoln Gold Token (Dollar) New York. MS-60 cleaned. HK-493 SC $1. This token is the work of Thomas Lindsay Elder (1874-1948), a New York City dealer who was one of the leading numismatics at the turn of the 20th century. A frequent contributor to The Numismatist and a conscientious participant in ANA politics, he is noted for his phenomenal memory and capacity for work. It was said that he could catalog an auction of 1,000 lots without help from a reference. Tokens were a hobby of Elder's. (Similar Lincoln gold tokens were also made in 1910 and 1927 by Elder.).
Estimated Value $150 - 200.
The Emile A. Tartakow Collection.
