Marcian, 450-457 AD. Gold Solidus (4.47g), Constantinople, struck 450-453 AD. Diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust, three-quarters facing, with spear and shield. Reverse: Victory standing left, holding jeweled long cross, star at right; Officina Γ. RIC 510; D.O.C. 482; Depeyrot 87/1. Sharp, full, even strike, nearly perfectly centered on very round flan. Brilliantly lustrous. Choice! Superb Mint State.
