Tiberius, 14-37 AD. AR Denarius, Lugdunum mint, after 16 AD. "Tribute Penny." Laureate head right. Reverse: Livia(?)as Pax, enthroned right, holding long scepter and olive branch; ornate legs to chair. RIC 30; BMCRE 48; RSC 16a. Impressive portrait in very bold relief, well struck up and handsome. Reverse of astonishing quality -- as fine as any of the versions seen in his gold coins. Faint warm toning; very lustrous. An outstanding coin. Superb Extremely Fine.
