Ptolemaic Egypt. Arsinoe II, wife of Ptolemy II. Gold Octadrachm (27.89 g), Alexandria mint, c. 170-116 BC. Period of Ptolemy VI to Ptolemy VIII, Kings of Egypt,180-116 BC., issued in the name of Arsinoe II. Veiled head of Arsinoe right, wearing diadem and stephane; lotus scepter behind, in left field, K. Reverse: Double cornucopiae, bound with fillet; in Greek, name of Arsinoe and title. SNG Cop. 322; Svor. 1499; Fr-549. Well struck up high relief portrait of better style for this series. Very lustrous, with brilliant fields. Superb, Nearly Mint State.
