Lot 1776

1873 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. No arrows. Closed 3. NGC graded Proof 67. Lovely blue and golden toning. Pop 4; 2 in 68. A gleaming gem of the highest quality for this popularly collected design. Full radiant mirrors blends smoothly with the intensity of toning on both sides. We see pale golden to purple-rose centers on the obverse, that deepen to high-voltage electric blue at the margins, with highlights on the frosted surfaces giving the coin a smooth cameo-like look. Whereas the obverse is very blue, the reverse is very gold, in fact, warm reddish amber gold, making the transition into purple then blue at the rim. Pass the word around to your friends, for subsequent auctions will rarely offer such a remarkable Proof seated Liberty quarter. In many ways we find it crossing the threshold into a future collection whose "home" will be a museum class set of seated Liberty coins.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,300.

Realized $4,370
