Carte-de-visite photograph of Agoston Haraszthy, the Hungarian aristocrat who planted the first vineyard in California; he is called the "Father of Modern Viticulture in California." Also, a Western Union telegraph written to Attila, one of Agoston's sons in Sonoma; and a book, Wine-Making in California, Arpad Haraszthy (The Book Club of California, 1978) about another of Agoston's sons. With nine labels for wine, whiskey and port. Very good to fine.
