Three photograph albums of an officer in a balloon observation unit, containing a total of over 260 original black & white photos of various sizes taken from 1915 to 1916. Subjects include unit officers, interior and exterior views of their forest camps, battlefields, fortifications, balloons being launched and in use, aerial photos of battlefields, observers in cold weather gear, biplanes, a staff auto, officers at work and play, wild boar hunt and other topics. We have noted on occasion that even single similar balloon unit photos can sell up to $100 each. A rare and important archive of wartime ballooning activity.
