(Washington, George) 1658 Catalog of British Nobility Listing Washington's Ancestor. Handsome 6½x4¼" 180pp catalog that lists (with dates) the appointments of dukes, marquesses, earls, viscounts, barons, baronettes, and various knighthoods. Collected by T.W. London, printed for Thomas Walkley, 1658. On page 121, it is noted that Laurence Washington was knighted at Bisham on 7 August 1627; he was the great-great-grandfather of George Washington and George's half-brother Laurence. Original leather boards are expertly rebacked with new leather spine and gold-stamped title. Inside cover carries book plates of John Hopten of Hereford County and Alexander D. Irwin and the endpages have numerous early penned notations.
