Journal of the Senate of the United States…November 17th, 1800…." Rare record of the Second Session of the 6th Congress, from 17 Nov. 1800 to 4 Mar. 1801. Original blue-black board covers with replaced leather spine and gilt title, 149pp plus an 11pp index. Previous owner's signature on first end page. Light toning and minor foxing; internally bright and clean. Covering all of the bills and acts passed by the U.S. Senate, such as: "Act to receive and continue in force…the relief and protection of American Seamen"; "An act to erect a Mausoleum for George Washington"; "A petition in the Indiana Territory…to pass some regulations in regard to the gradual abolition of Slavery…." Also shown is the February 11th vote of the Electoral College, with a diagrammed representation of the tie vote between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr, as well as the complete text of Jefferson's Inaugural Speech and a record of the administration of the Presidential Oath of Office on 4 March 1801. A rare edition.
