Lot 698

1866 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. Old holder. Frosty with light golden toning. Amazingly pristine in condition! Silver surfaces with iridescent toning in the periphery and prooflike fields. Cameo to Deep Cameo in appearance with Liberty and the eagle being excessively frosty, extremely bold, almost perfect. Fine parallel die polish lines seen on the obverse angled downwards which is typical for the 1866 and 1867 business strikes, half dimes thru quarter dollars and diagnostic of these. Those same quality die polish lines are seen on the reverse angled upwards. Light golden, magenta and blue hues grace the reverse borders as well. Stars are flat on the right, sharper on the left. A fresh, gem specimen and unquestionably one of the finest for this rare issue! Only 17,265 minted. Pop 10; 3 in 66; 1 in 68.
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

Realized $5,750
