Lot 693

1860 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. NGC graded Proof 65 Cameo. A fully white coin. Untamed mirror fresh luster on a nice example free of any toning and one that escaped the heavy hairlines so often found on No Motto seated quarters. Reasonable detail definition, especially to the all-important area at Liberty and the shield along with the eagle. Only a few of the stars are bluntly struck on this Gem specimen. Mathematically exact standards were not very common in those days, although the mint improved its Proof quality by the time the Barber coinage arrived in the 1890s. 1,000 proofs minted. Pop 2; 2 in 66 Cam; 2 in 67 Cam.
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.
