Lot 33

1864 Indian Head Cent. Bronze. NGC graded MS-66 Brown. A well struck gem with a trace of mint color. Frosty blue-brown fields are here blessed with cartwheel luster. Some roughness results from the weakened, age state of the dies and is a strike characteristic seen on some 1864 and 1865 Indian cents. Note as well the crumbling of the edge along the obverse from AMERICA to the date area, again, this the result of overworking the die. The reverse, by comparison, seems to be from a fresher die.
Estimated Value $400 - 450.
