Fr-899a. 1914, $10 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Gem New 65. . Fr-899a. Red Seal, a much scarcer Type. The Federal Reserve went into operation in 1913, in time to help the federal government finance its entry into World War I in 1917. These notes, while technically unbacked paper money, were convertible into specie (gold or silver) at banks upon request. Between 1917 and 1919, however, the payment in gold was suspended. The $10 denomination was a hard-working one, with most survivors well circulated. Gems like this are truly few and far between today. A fabulous opportunity for the collector to acquire a nice Red Seal 1914 $10.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.

Realized $4,600
