Great Britain. Angel, ND. S.2091; Fr-139. Edward IV, Second Reign, 1471-1483. London mint. Angel spearing dragon. Reverse: Ship with cross above, E and rose at sides. A nice crisply struck specimen. PCGS graded MS-63.

Edward IV was one of England's ablest rulers. He was skilled in commerce, law and diplomacy, and he encouraged trade with Europe by allowing the German Hanseatic League to have privileges. He recognized the contributions of merchant companies and dabbled successfully in the wool and cloth trades, the greatest contributors to English wealth. Trade boomed, and a new age opened in 1476 with the establishment of William Caxton's first printing press.
