1894 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo. Wonderful white gem. After several years of softly struck Proofs in the early 1890s, the mint put its nose to the grindstone in 1894 and struck 972 sharp Proof coins. These handsome rarities are popular and avidly sought by collectors not only because of their clear strikes but also because of the scarcity and date demand created by the short supply of high grade business strike 1894 dollars.
This coin presents surfaces that are bright white, sparkling and gleaming throughout with no distracting impairments on either side. This is what one would expect given the near-perfect grade Proof 67! The superb fields are deeply mirrored while, in contrast, there is a significant amount of mint frost enveloping the devices to create a true blessed cameo effect. Pop 15; 7 finer.
