Lot 1608

1795 Flowing Hair Dollar. Silver plug. PCGS graded VG-10. 3 leaves reverse. Reverse with paired berries under D of UNITED. Star 15 points below bust point. Even wear but with uneven, somewhat granular gray toning of various shades. Choice rims other than for a couple of very tiny bumps at the 9 o'clock position on the obverse. The silver plug is visible at the center of Liberty's neck and jaw. 1795 BB-18 is one of the more available varieties of the year, but is hard to find in higher grades. "Probably, about 500 to 800 survive," is the experience of Q. David Bowers in his BB-18 variety listing (PCGS # 6854) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.
